Guidance, not engineering advice
Read this before you rely on a verdict. Last updated October 25, 2026.
What we do
We read statutes, fire codes and fire marshal documents, and explain what they say in plain language with a citation to the exact section. The building checker applies those published rules to the answers you give it.
What we do not do
- We are not engineers. We do not measure signal strength, design systems or certify coverage.
- We are not lawyers. Nothing on this site is legal advice.
- We are not your fire marshal (AHJ). Only the AHJ decides whether your building needs a system, what test it must pass and by when.
Why a verdict can be wrong for your building
- Local fire marshals have room to require more. In Florida, for example, the statute lets the local authority having jurisdiction require a radio enhancement system in buildings that lack adequate interior radio signal (F.S. 633.202(18)(c), read October 25, 2026).
- Codes change. A new code edition or local amendment can change a threshold before we re-check the page. Each page shows the date we last verified it.
- Your answers matter. Building height, stories, below-grade areas and construction type change the result. An answer of "not sure" leaves an open question.
- Some rules are not published. Where a jurisdiction has not published a rule, we say so instead of guessing.
What to do with a result
Use it to prepare for a conversation with your fire marshal (AHJ) and a qualified installer or engineer, not to replace it. Bring the cited sections with you. If you received a citation, follow its instructions and deadline first; see what to do on citations.
